On the 7th February 2015, we held an Open Day where we recorded, scanned and copied a wide range of material brought in by local residents.
The material comprises:
a. Still Images: Photographs, Paintings & Prints, Postcards, etc.
b. Moving Images: 8 mm, 16 mm, 9.5 mm monochrome and colour film.
c. Artefacts: Original objects or materials relating to the history or heritage of Portrush.
d. Verbal History: Reminiscences, stories, legends, etc. remembered and retold by members of the public.
e. Family History: Local records of births, marriages and deaths; obituaries; local family trees, etc.
f. Geology and archaeology: information and artefacts related to the Portrush area.
Also in the preparation of the Heritage Experience Trail, we gathered sound recordings, text and images that will, together with the aforementioned Open Day Material form the basis of our Archive which will be accessible to all.
