Sir James Craig

 

Sir James Craig became the first Prime Minister of Northern Ireland after the partition of Ireland on 3rd May 1921, as the result of the Government of Ireland Act of 1920. Sir James visited Portrush in November 1922 to unveil the Portrush War Memorial which recognised the tragic sacrifice made by local men during the Great War. After the Second World War, the names of those who lost their lives in that conflict were added.
